A Tour by my Community

On September 09 children from Nursery had a study visit in order to learn more about our community. They left school at about 9 am and visited the Fire Station where they explained how the job of firemen is. The children were very excited and even the youngest children dressed with their uniforms, came down the tube, etc. Then, they went to the Police Station, where policemen explained their work and also gave advice such as: "Do not talk to strangers", "not receiving anything from strangers”, etc.
Finally, they went to a park to share lunch and play some games.
Children were so happy after this visit and obviously learned a lot about our community.

Community Helpers

According to our Inquiry Unit, children from Nursery Bunnies have been working on Community Helpers. They enjoyed a lot talking about Community Helpers and dressing like their favorite community helper. Let´s see them.

Celebrating Father´s Day.

Because Father´s Day is an important time to say thank you to our fathers, we could show Bunnies´ Fathers what they have learned for this occasion. It was a wonderful time for fathers to see and enjoy our performance, where they could watch their kids singing in English and Spanish.

Also, as a tradition, we celebrated the Sport´s Day where parents and kids participated of some competitions such as Volleyball, Football, and a Gymkana for the younger children. And, of course, it couldn´t miss the traditional contest of bars, where the four Houses showed its organization and enthusiasm. The most of my Bunnies came, but just a few participated. I hope next time they enjoy and participate more in these funny activities. Let´s see some of these moments.

We went to Huachipa.

Last Friday, our students from Nursery and Pre Kinder visited the “Parque Zoológico de Huachipa”. It was a good experience for them to understand more about the importance of animals in their lives. It was also useful for them to learn in a different way as always they do.
In the Zoo, they could see and learn about different kinds of animals. They saw jungle animals like monkeys, sea animals, farm animals, and they feed some ducks. Also they had the experience of travelling around the zoo in a train.
Children were so excited and full of enthusiasm; they really enjoyed the fieldtrip and learnt a lot about animals. But, they got so tired. Lets see some pictures!

Our Work in Class.

Between 3 and 7 years old, children are in the most important period to learn. Because of that, it’s so important that they start getting English as a Second Language. Everyday, children come to school expecting something new to learn. They learn the English Language through some subjects: In English children have the opportunity to learn commands, songs, poems, chants, and vocabulary according to the topic that they are studying. They also learn through storytelling and at the end of the year they can retell stories and create their own ones. In Science they can learn through experimenting and investigating about each topic, for example when we are learning about plants, they plant and harvest different seeds. In Maths they learn about numbers, shapes, and positions through games and exploration. In Social Studies children learn about habits, good manneras and behavior through stories, songs, games and teacher´s performances. Finally, in Religion children learn prayers, songs and they have the opportunity to listen to parables and important topics about our religious beliefs.

We love Virgin Mary

St. George School is a school that is concerned about the religious themes. It is not a religious school, although here the different religious cults are respected, our teachers try to give their students some religious knowledge as general culture.
It´s known around the world that May is the "Virgin Mary´s Month". So, in our school we celebrated her month with a tribute in the school. Here, my children sang some songs, listened to some prayers and showed respect for Virgin Mary. Let´s see how my Bunnies participated in this activity.
